Protecting premises and property in educational institutions is of paramount importance. So says Hynek Pindak of Flow Systems Manufacturers. "Securing institutions such as universities and colleges properly, includes effective access control for students, staff and employees: a proper access control system will for example ensure that only legitimate students be allowed access to facilities.
"Such a system will also help prevent the substantial losses of assets from a campus for example expensive computers, electronic equipment and books. It will also allow the institution to be aware and keep control of the numbers of students using their facilities."
Adds Pindak, "In order to effectively control hundreds or even thousands of students entering an institution at any one time, a physical barrier system should be implemented as this will allow for one person access at a time. Access for pedestrians into a campus can be controlled by industrial turnstiles on the perimeter, waist height turnstiles in libraries and canteens and access control revolving at the entrances of buildings and offices.
"These access control barriers assist in keeping only legitimate students, staff and visitors on the institutions property. With barriers being prone to abuse it is important that strong robust and reliable barriers be used to control access," he says.
Flow Systems' heavy duty turnstiles and access control revolving doors have been used effectively to control access at, amongst others, UNISA, Vista University, University of Natal, Pretoria Technikon, Potchefstroom University, Boston City Campus, Wits University.
Established in 1975, Flow Systems has a range of over 100 access control barriers for various applications. Its industrial turnstiles are used at some of the deepest and richest mines in the world as well as factories, refineries, stadiums and offices all over Africa and Europe.
