An Adpro Axiom Video Motion Detection (VMD) system from Vision Fire & Security is protecting one of the world's most famous temples. Abu Simbel is the great temple dedicated to Ramses II, with the four enormous 67 feet-high statues at the temple's entrance, one of Egypt's most enduring images. Abu Simbel was one of the sites identified by the Egyptian authorities in a programme to increase security measures at its popular tourist attractions.
Installed by Vision Fire & Security distributor 4S Sphinx, Axiom provides an alarm should any motion be detected, with algorithms providing automatic scene and environmental learning to prevent false alarms. The system features 26 channels integrated with a touch-screen front-end for ease of control of the cameras located around the site's perimeter.
The site is subject to a variety of environmental conditions including strong shadows cast by trees and movement of the trees in a breeze that could generate false alarms. Axiom also features low and high contrast alarms for camera failure or sabotage detection and is expandable from one to 140 channels.
