Quality, high powered infrared emitting diodes are used, operating at 940 nm, just above the spectrum observable through the human eye.

The optical system chosen

One of several optical solutions may be used dependent on application/range. The optical physics of the air beams, using mirror and lens or parabolic mirrors, are all well understood and optimised for system performance.

The signal processing

Custom microprocessor control, incorporating the experience gained, ensures quality detection yet is insensitive to sunlight or other false alarm sources.
