The Elrond video alert system from Johannesburg-based Thales Advanced Engineering is a sophisticated but low-cost intelligent motion detector which ensures a high degree of relevant and accurate motion disclosure - even under adverse conditions.
The company, which manufactures and supplies digital CCTV systems, has supplied the system to Lohatla military base in the Northern Province, Impala Platinum mines and several other leading sites.
According to Sales Manager Ivor Fairney, video movement detection such as that offered by the Elrond system is a suitable alternative to other alarm systems because it offers 24 h vigilance without operator fatigue and provides visual verification of alarms.
The motion detection system can expand from eight to 64 cameras and can, in conjunction with the company's Aegis management system, provide a digital recording and management combination which eliminates the human element by incorporating an automated storage system.
"Our system is easily integrated with most access control systems and also offers our customers the opportunity to access data online - even from another base-station," says Fairney.
The systems' features include:
* High resolution of 196, individually selectable, sensitive areas per image.
* Eight special sensors per camera, each with an individual size and sensitivity setting.
* User friendly controls and set-up.
* Programmable sensitivity.
* Camera loss and detection.
* Cloud compensation.
* Two alarm relays - alarm and VCR control.
Says Fairney: "Perimeter security is a vital element in any good security solution and we believe that digitally-based systems offer one of the most technologically advanced options currently available."
