GE Security has announced the launch of 5D, its most recent generation of PIR motion sensors. GE Security now offers its motion sensors to residential and commercial markets in addition to existing high-end, high-risk application markets.
The new 5D sensors effectively overcome the potential problem of false alarms caused by reflected sunlight and other typical slow moving thermal signals. Building on the strengths of 4D motion sensors, when a slow thermal source is detected, the signal processing switches automatically to 5D-mode, executing additional heat pattern recognition detection.
The new range of PIR motion sensors is designed around GE Security’s optical mirror technology. The technology’s combination of a step and gliding focus creates a continuous curtain resulting in a sensor that never loses track. And the new 3Brid orthogonal curtain design allows the number of curtains to be further increased without sacrificing signal strength or increasing the size of the sensor.
