Founded in 2002, Spain-based manufacturer, Bunker Seguridad, makes a wide range of photoelectric beam enclosures, infrared sensor lanterns and lamps as well as long range outdoor PIR detectors.
The company is strengthening its presence in markets, such as South Africa, where its exclusive distributor, Elvey Security Technologies has been promoting and distributing Bunker’s photoelectric beam housings since 2007.
It is true that foreign companies are rather euphoric around the opportunities the South African market can offer. Hence, prudency when forecasting sales and putting yourself in the hands of a renowned distributor such as Elvey, ensures that your product is being introduced and promoted.
Entering the South African market calls for a close cooperation between suppliers and distributors in addition to offering flexible and quick provision of solutions.
The company’s flagship product – PT beam tower – allows infrared beam sensors to be mounted at any height within the enclosure, while making sensors invisible, The camouflaging effect is crucial for many public and residential buildings, where aesthetic effect needs to be taken into consideration.
The company offers towers of different heights (0,5, 1, 1,5, 2 and 3 meters) in addition to customised heights when requested. The company’s best-selling product is its two-metre tower, which comfortably houses four quad-beam sensors that depending on the sensor used can provide coverage of up to 250 metres.
Product strengths
Good beam towers need to have good infrared transmittance rates to allow infrared signals to pass through. Our towers generate only about 5% to 7% less transmittance for infrared signals than without the towers. Other manufacturers generate 10% to 12% less.
Bunker’s specialisation in providing beam tower housings has earned the company worldwide recognition from first class security distributors and manufacturers who seek a reliable and flexible supplier to help enhance anti-intrusion IR sensor’s possibilities.
The company’s two major product groups take in an industrial range oriented at warehouses, government buildings and factories. Robust and solid structures are the key. Our durable towers are frequently used to protect construction projects.
The other major product line is residential. These beam towers are designed to give the impression of being like regular lamp posts or outdoor lanterns without any palpable security material. Well-off house owners are interested in effective, non-intrusive security systems to protect their homes.
Sensors and cameras in the beam tower send alarms and take images as soon as abnormal movement is detected within the perimeter between the street and house.
New developments
Bunker Seguridad is about to launch two accessories to improve residential towers to make them more appealing and add value. An illuminating accessory (PT-LUX) and camera enclosure (PT-CCTV) are two examples: these can be added to Bunker’s flagship product, its PT 360° beam tower.
With such accessories, the beam tower delivers extra illumination to its surroundings. Its appearance is like an elegant lantern, but it discreetly hosts twin or quad photoelectric beams and adjustable microwave sensors. The camera enclosure provides an additional eye for security to reduce false alarms, and it can host up to two cameras depending on the models and specifications.
Such developments are unique within the perimeter protection niche as they add value to current and standard beam towers.
Whereas discretion is at the heart of Bunker’s ingenious beam tower’s range, the new possibilities that the PT beam tower accessory, (PT-CCTV) brings about will also add a deterrent effect to the towers since monitoring systems may be incorporated atop. The possibility to observe the premises’ periphery and keep recorded footage of incidents will expand the scope of this simple but versatile enclosure.
