The VisorAlarm IP receiver is a communications device developed by Teldat for the area of security and whose task is to receive alarms over an IP network and subsequently send them to an automation software.
The difference between this and traditional receivers, which receive alarms over the telephone network and resend them to the automation software through a serial port, is that the VisorAlarm receives the alarms over IP. The alarms are encrypted with a session key in order to resend them, after they have been decoded, to the automation software in the same way as a traditional receiver sends received alarms through a serial port.
A VisorAlarm can emulate a Sur-Gard receiver or a Radionics 6500 receiver or an Ademco 685 receiver as the serial line parameters as well as those relative to the emulated receiver (link-test, receiver and line identifiers, frame beginning and end characters, etc,) are configurable.
With the network backup functionality, a second VisorAlarm configured as backup has been added. This converts into a second option for sending alarms in cases where the main unit fails. Should the polling carried out over the main device fail then the mIP establishes communications with the backup VisorAlarm. The mIP continues to poll the backup and sends any alarms that have been produced and also carries on polling the main device until it is accessible once more. At this point the mIP returns from backup and re-establishes communications with the main unit.
In cases where the backup also fails, the mIP releases the telephone line so the alarm panel itself directly sends any alarms produced from this point onwards.
The supervision traffic is encrypted UDP traffic and both the supervision interval as well as the number of retries or time between retries is configurable.
The supported alarm's sending protocol is Contact-ID. This format sends alarms though DTMF digits complying with the following format: AAAA MM QEEE GG CCC S
The alarms panel does not receive the sent frame acknowledgement (kissoff) until this acknowledgement is generated by the automation software.
