Ironing out the problem of false alarms, distributor Security Systems and Equipment Suppliers (SS&ES) has introduced the Crow D&D Double Dual Element PIR motion detector, an intrusion sensor that is designed to recognise humans only.
According to Ahmed Bhabha, SS&ES managing director, the waterproof D&D - manufactured by Crow Electronic Engineering in Israel - is equipped with a microprocessor that uses digital signal analysis to produce a thermal image of the protected area. "The device remembers this image, and focuses only on the intruder. That means no more disruptive false alarms; if this sensor triggers an alert, it is for real."
Particularly well suited for high-security applications, Bhabha says the detector is at home in harsh outdoor environments, and has circuitry that is designed to self-adapt to new conditions such as changes in wind, temperature and background noise. "This is an advanced solution with a detection range of up to 18 metres and it has interchangeable lenses to suit a range of applications from wide angle to long range. Coupled with CCTV or alarm systems, the detector is a highly reliable solution for effective intruder detection," he says.
