ESP (Electronic Security Products) recently released its Solution alarm control panel which can send an SMS message from the alarm panel to a client's cellphone via a Telkom telephone line.
"This is the only product available in South Africa which can send all the relevant SMS data directly from its microchip via a Telkom telephone line to a cellphone. This means that there are no extra monthly rental costs, contracts and you don't have to buy an expensive GSM modem just to receive an SMS from your alarm panel", explains Craig Bennets of ESP.
"This feature allows the customer full control over his or her alarm panel", explains Bennets and uses the following example to illustrate how the Solution alarm panel works:
Imagine a normal everyday scenario: Your wife is on her way home and there has been a break-in at your home, the intruders are still on the premises, the armed reaction is on its way, however, she is much closer to home and walks in on the intruders. The Solution alarm panel will send an SMS to the customer's cellphone of the exact event and will also send a standard message via its communicator to a conventional basestation at a local armed response company.
The message which will appear on the client's cellphone will be: Subscriber No: 1256 (client's street number), date and time of SMS, event type eg: low battery, AC fail, burglary by zone, panic, medical, etc.
Other features of the Solution alarm panels include remote arming from mobile telephone and a host of automation facilities.
