Integrated access control and intrusion alarm systems

September 2003 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection

Recognising that the future of the security industry lies in integrated networks, and realising that most of the access control solutions on the market were geared to large installations, Rokonet focused on the integration of access control for small to medium installations and has added this option to its ProSYS line of systems.

With ProSYS control panels; end-users have the option of access control, as well as having all their security and automation met in one system.

The system's unique scalability allows it to grow together with the customer; a small business can begin with two door access and expand to 16 over time, at its own pace, saving the expense of a new system. With the smart access controllers available with Rokonet's ProSYS line, upgrades can be made using existing readers of every type, thereby reducing costs, increasing productivity, and adding to the overall safety and efficiency of business.

With ProSYS, security professionals can offer complete packages to all their customers - adjusted to the size of the installation. A smooth entrance into the profitable access control market is assured, since installers need to learn only one system, save time, and save on expenses for stock and spare parts.

Integrated access control features

* End-users easily determine who is allowed access, as well as when and where.

* Arm/disarm with access card, key tag, or keypad.

* Each module supports two doors.

* Supports magnetic, proximity bar code, finger touch and Wiegand reader technologies.

* Anti-passback feature.

* Supports HID readers.

Easy installation and operation

ProSYS was designed for easy installation and programming. All models in the ProSYS line include Rokonet's advanced Auto-Install Technology, which senses, recognises and enables rapid configuration of the connected elements and accessories during system set-up.

User-friendly and menu-driven, ProSYS eliminates manual programming. A variety of programming methods can be used, including keypad, up/download software, and a program transfer module.

Unique diagnostic self-test tools - which have been carefully designed according to installer's logic - are incorporated into the system. They include a BUS test, communications test, and one-man walk test. The system's advanced software enables both local and remote use of these tools.

Multitude of features

In addition to access control, among the many features supported by ProSYS are:

* Interactive Voice Module - enables system operation via a mobile phone, forwards event messages to follow-me numbers, allows 2-way voice communication, and facilitates message recording and status announcements.

* TCP/IP - enables simplified linking to local or remote PC networks via intranet or Internet.

The ProSYS line of systems is available in three models supporting 8-128 zones, vz:

* ProSYS 16 - for residential and small commercial environments - is expandable to 16 zones and four access control doors.

* ProSYS 40 - for commercial settings - is expandable to 40 zones and eight access control doors.

* ProSYS 128 - for large commercial and institutional installations - is expandable to 128 zones and 16 access control doors.
