The new wireless NetworX security system is compact, easy-to-use and entirely portable, the NX-10 allows consumers to hold their security in the palm of their hand.
The NX-10 boasts a host of features including 868 MHz frequency technology which operates off two-way independent transmission to ensure conflict-free functionality for sensors, keypad and sirens. In addition, it offers two onboard inputs, three outputs and up to four keypads.
According to Zane Greeff, technical director for Elvey Security Technologies, the NX-10 comes on the back of growing consumer demand for innovative security and fire systems. “Home and business owners can now take charge of their security, which is critical in an age where crime is ever-present.”
Keypad
Though super-slim, the keypad has a brimful of features. It comprises two rows of up to 16 large characters as well as an additional row of easy-to-read icons on the LCD screen. Enhanced by a bright backlit menu and programming icons, it keeps a detailed activity and event log complete with user name, time and date of activations and deactivations. Despite its apparent simplicity, it is easy to operate and every family member can use it.
From an aesthetic perspective, it has been designed to blend seamlessly into any building style and fits flush against the wall in a snug bracket.
Zones
This 'security system-in-a-box' offers up to 48 wireless zones, making it possible to secure certain areas while permitting free roaming in others. This makes it possible to lock up the garage and downstairs areas while allowing residents free access to roam around the living rooms, bedrooms and other pre-programmed open zones.
Key fob
Unlike conventional key fobs, notes Greeff, this 4-button, 868 MHz Gen2 key fob can be used as a panic button as well as for activating lighting or opening garage doors – both important safety features considering that almost 15 000 cars were hijacked in South Africa during the 2008/2009 financial year and that the majority of these cases involved weapons.
Home automation
For those with existing home automation systems, the NX-10 takes easy living to a completely new level. Optional extras such as home automation modules can be programmed to take control over almost any type of electrical equipment with a simple phone call. The system can also be easily programmed to turn lights on and off at specified intervals, giving outsiders the impression that the property is inhabited even when the owners are away. To this end, it can also open and close curtains, heat or cool the house and even waters the garden.
Control panels
Control panels are the hub of any alarm system, avers Greeff. The NX-10’s control panel has been specially designed by security professionals with the protection of the end user in mind. It delivers up to 48 wireless zones standard, and provides the end user with an option to include GSM/GPRS modules to the system. Enclosed in an aesthetically attractive yet sturdy polycarbonate housing, the NX-10 is not only extremely reliable but also protects against sabotage. To this end, it will warn of any attempt to cut the power or telephone lines, and also report attempts to break into the property even during power failures.
Motion sensors
Within a designer housing lie its sensors which incorporate state-of-the-art technology, analysing all forms of environmental interference and distinguishing an actual person from a false alarm. It also incorporates several programmable security levels which determine how much information is sent back to the control panel offering an added level of customisation to the home or business owner.
Smoke sensors
The system comprises both optical and thermal smoke detectors to ensure a 100% success rate in detecting fire. Behind the scenes, the automatic diagnostic system runs constant checks, only making its presence known when there’s a problem or when it is time for a maintenance inspection.
Voice module
The NX10 comes with a voice module capable of recording up to 16 different messages which can be relayed to one of six pre-programmed phone numbers in the event of an alarm.
Sirens
The system’s battery-operated siren is instantly distinguishable from all other alarms, emitting a modulated alarm signal of 100 to 115 decibels. In addition to its contemporary design, these sirens are resistant to high intensity impacts with integrated tamper proofing, providing the highest protection from criminals looking to silence the screaming alarm.
Considering the above and the fact that it is extremely economical to operate, requiring just six AA batteries every three years, it is no wonder the NX10 has won numerous awards since its launch.
