There is a distinctly global aura to the 2009 IFSEC South Africa Securex exhibition (www.ifsecsa.com) at the Sandton Convention Centre from 30 June to 2 July with not only strong local representation but participation coming from the Far East, particularly China, Korea and Taiwan as well as exhibitors from the UK, America, Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
Gary Corin, chief operating officer at exhibition organiser Specialised Exhibitions, said more than 200 companies will be exhibiting and the event is also boosted by the South African Security Association (SASA) workshops.
Some exciting new concepts are to be introduced at the exhibition. RedZebra CCTV of Cape Town has been busy developing software, aimed at security monitoring rooms to enable all CCTV cameras at client premises to transmit images for virtually instant review, simultaneously with an alarm activation.
Managing director Errol Finkelstein says this enables monitoring/control rooms in the event of receiving an alarm to switch images to the mobile phone screens of the reaction team who can then view images from the property prior to arriving so that they know what situation they will have to deal with.
“This promotes better management of resources and reduces the cost of cameras and security services for industrial parks, cluster homes and townhouse complexes. We had some interesting discussions on our technology and concepts with security organisations at the recent IFSEC exhibition in the UK.”
RedZebra offers a self-monitoring solution for individuals and small businesses, a PRO monitoring solution for professional response and control room monitoring service providers and a GSM SIM card CCTV system which will be launched at the upcoming IFSEC South Africa Securex. A wireless solution, it has wide-ranging applications and generates cost savings by eliminating the need for cabling, trenching and mains power as well because it can be operated by solar panel/battery.
Push To Talk Africa (PTTA), a Durban-based company, is exhibiting an innovative two-way radio service for national and international communication based on high-tech yet rugged fit-for-purpose cellular phones which allow low-cost unlimited communication at a flat monthly rate.
The system is ideal for industries that require two-way radio services but are limited by geographical coverage and high infrastructure cost, annual licence applications, bulky handheld radio devices and inflexible channel usage
GUSS Technology, a specialist in digital video recording and high performance, high quality surveillance cameras incorporating high-resolution technology and wireless broadband solutions, will be exhibiting a wide range of CCTV cameras and equipment including a vehicle DVR system, video server, video Intercom system and image capture cards.
ProGroup, a designer and manufacturer of a range of security command and control centre consoles is introducing a modular standard console at IFSEC Securex. It can be adapted and developed according to the user’s specific requirements, and conforms to the highest standards of design, functionality and aesthetics.
Thorough understanding of the unique requirements for each command centre console is essential and each phase of the design process is governed by multiple checkpoints to ensure the correct results. Use of CAD technology assures correct detail and accommodates all equipment. Made-to-order consoles have been exported to other African countries and to the UAE.
Red Systems, the sole South African distributor and representative for security, surveillance, monitoring and alert/response systems from Acumen International Corporation will be exhibiting IP-based CCTV equipment, cameras, video recorders and capture cards, speed domes, monitors, lenses and security systems.
An exclusive distribution agreement with Red Systems was recently signed by Khusela Solutions, which offers complete integrated IT and CCTV solutions.
Among the Chinese companies exhibiting at IFSEC Securex is the Senken Group which produces warning and signalling products for police, ambulance, emergency and fire-fighting services and has a major share of this market in mainland China. Products include light-bars, sirens, speakers, rotating beacons, strobe beacons, LED lights, mobile lighting systems, adapted vehicles and civil defence alarm systems.
Other Chinese exhibitors include Lilutong Technology, a specialist manufacturer of coaxial, power, data and network cables; Hongmen Machinery & Electrical Equipment, a supplier of automatic gates, folding gates, boom barriers and guard booths for parking and secure industrial and residential access/egress control; Hongfa Optics, a major manufacturer of CCTV lenses, cameras, speed domes and DVRs; and BlueStar SecuTech, which will exhibit its high performance DVR with resource sharing and high-speed storage or external back-up system.
The fire detection and prevention section of the exhibition has also attracted attention from China with four manufacturers and suppliers of a wide range of specialised fire-fighting equipment taking stands at the show.
