It is that time of year again - last-minute workloads, holidays looming and cash heists and an increase in robberies imminent...
Wehave almost come to expect, in a way, to be warned of an increase in robberies and cash heists as we head towards the traditional big-spending time of end-of-year, but I saw a new warning on News24 - "Recent research has shown that South Africa's online audience has grown 120% over the past two years, and it has been predicted that at the end of 2007, 3,85 million South Africans will be online.
But as more users take to the web, online fraudsters look sure to follow, especially over the festive period." (http://www.news24.com/News24/Technology/News/0,,2-13-1443_2215231,00.html).
We have touched on IT security in Hi-Tech Security Solutions in the past and with all the convergence currently taking place, there is bound to be more coverage of the issues around logical as well as security, which is the case in this issue, in which we have quite a few IT security articles. But we also bring you some of the basics of physical security in the form of what to do if you are going away on holiday as well as what to do to prevent a hi-jacking.
Enjoy the read and the next issue of Hi-Tech will be with you in February.
Take care, be safe and happy holidays!
Till next year,
Lynne Larsen
