Two of South Africa's top security specialists have just earned the Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE) designation from the prestigious Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, based in Austin, Texas.
Johan du Plooy and Peter Grant, the owners of Investment Surveys of Midrand, were recently informed of their acceptance into the Association.
In addition, Du Plooy is also a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) of the American Society of Industrial Security which has 30 000 members internationally. Recertification is required every three years for membership to the Society in order to retain its high standards. In recognition of his contribution to the security industry, the South African Security Association last year awarded an Honorary Life Membership to Du Plooy.
The Board of Regents of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners awards this designation only to select professionals who meet a stringent set of criteria, including strict character, experience and education requirements. A demanding examination assesses a candidate’s knowledge. These include financial transactions, the legal elements of fraud, criminology and ethics and fraud investigation. A CFE qualification lends itself to employment in a variety of industries, including the investigative divisions of corporations, private businesses, and government agencies.
CFEs are responsible for resolving a wide range of allegations of fraud and white-collar crime. They have the expertise to obtain evidence; take statements and write reports; testify to findings; and assist in all aspects of detecting and preventing white-collar crime.
