Chiper exclusive agencies

March/April 2000 News & Events

Dear Mr Smith,

We were concerned over an advertorial in your magazine dated December 1999 on page 60. This editorial for Frank Street CCTV gives the impression that they are agents for Chiper cameras and associated CHIPER equipment.

We now see the Hi-Tech Security Systems Buyers' Guide 2000 on page 47, has Frank Street listed as the sole agent for Chiper products together with ourselves.

Specialised Control Technologies and Chiper Technology, both companies part of the Specialised Group of Companies, are the official exclusive agents for Chiper CCTV equipment, [and have been] since late 1993.

We offer an as yet unmatched three-year guarantee on Chiper products.

This has been the company policy since inception. We provide an old for new exchange policy on Chiper products during the guarantee period and repair thereafter.

We confirmed with Chiper Technology in Taiwan as to who holds the exclusive agency for their products and it was confirmed in writing again that Specialised Control Technologies are the exclusive sole agents for Chiper products.

We assume Frank Street/Appro Technology sources CCTV equipment from many sources in Taiwan, Chiper being one such company.

We cannot stop a company importing any make of CCTV equipment, but local dealers will be confused as to who is the official importer.

The length of [our] guarantee, technical and design back-up for Chiper products as well as after sales service will not be available from us if Chiper products are purchased from another source.

Finally the confusion starting to filtrate into the dealer market will cause our brand name, which has taken many years to build, to be diluted.

Would you be so kind as to place some editorial in your next magazine clearing up this matter.

Michael Cox
