International player in SA biometrics and RFID market

July 2007 Access Control & Identity Management

Founded in 1999, fingerprint and facial recognition systems company, RC Group, develops, produces and distributes state-of-the-art biometrics and RFID software through hardware and system integration.

The company was listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange in July 2004.

RCG adopts an holistic approach to provide security solutions that meet different vertical industry needs, uniquely combining biometric and RFID technologies to offer solutions that further enhance security and increase convenience to both enterprise and end-users.

“Security is a growing market, but we saw a need for security suppliers to be turnkey outfits providing complete system integration solutions rather than just selling the product,” explains RCG Systems SA operations manager Mike Cox.

RCG solutions can be applied to a number of vertical industries such as gaming, mining, aviation, healthcare, logistics and real estate. RCG products are innovative in design and provide flexible multifactor authentication to further enhance security. Understanding each customer has different security needs, the company offers tailor-made solutions to its customers.

Products such as the i4+ biometric fingerprint time-and-attendance system will store up to 20 000 fingerprint enrolments. Coupled with it is a high-speed authentication processing engine with a fingerprint reading speed of under 0,5 seconds. RCG i4+ is the industry’s most comprehensive and advanced time-and-attendance system.

The RCG M29 biometric fingerprint door lock uses the latest fingerprint recognition technology and an advanced semiconductor sensor, ensuring secure door access.

It is ideally suited to applications in homes, townhouse complexes and golf estates, and for limiting access in offices, storerooms, computer rooms, hotels and factories.

The S903 is a home and office biometric fingerprint access control system which will store up to 3000 fingerprint images.

The system is suited to areas of high-volume access such as office or factory environments.

FxAlert is a face recognition database software solution. It compares faces from live video feeds against a stored database of face prints, with greater speed, accuracy and effectiveness. The system is capable of ‘one-to-many’ facial identification searches at a rate of 750 000 records per second.

FxAlert is suitable for identifying undesirables in casinos, shoplifters in retail stores, and terror suspects in busy areas such as airports and railway stations.

RCG FxGuard Pro is a biometric access control system with face recognition technology and the hardware that drives the FxAlert database.

It is the first face recognition system that runs primarily on TCP/IP and integrates easily with any corporate LAN. Each unit is supplied with a built-in infrared sensor and RFID reader as standard. It is the most accurate facial identification and verification technology available.

FxGuard Pro can help reduce security cost at automated, unmanned entry points. This is because the software is embedded in the device and no dedicated computer is required. Maintenance costs can therefore be significantly reduced.

FxSecure Key is aimed at the consumer market. Using a wireless connection, it allows notebook users to retain the ability, when not in possession of their notebook, to send configuration commands in the form of SMS messages, including locking the notebook, deleting data and formatting pre-designated files within the computer. FxSecure Key also functions as a wireless modem, enabling remote Internet connection.
