In the ongoing search for a better, more secure lifestyle, more and more people are considering the option of setting up home in a residential estate, not a cheap way to go by any means, but when one weighs up the return on the investment, they certainly seem to offer a lot that a price cannot really be put to. Our sector focus this month is on security in residential and/or golf estates, see what goes into ensuring the safety, security and wellbeing of the residents of such establishments, the concept is very tempting indeed...
IFSEC is behind us for another year and it really was an eye-opener for me. I must confess that 18 months ago I would never have believed that the security industry is so huge and so diverse, but that did not take long to learn. I have also learned that it is a fast-changing industry insofar as the technological advancements are concerned, which is what makes shows such as IFSEC so interesting and beneficial to all concerned with security as a whole - well worth a visit!
The convergence of physical security technology and information technology - in other words physical and logical security - has been on the cards for a long time, and is now truly becoming more apparent and important, and also being put into practice. Our series by Ray Bernard ('The convergence of physical security and IT: internetworking') aims to educate and aid in this convergence process, we trust you will find the series interesting and informative, and starting with this month's article, we get a South African perspective of the situation as well!
Till next month...
