New moves at Bekaert Bastion
Terry Bean has been appointed as technical advisor for building products at Bekaert Bastion and will be based at the company's Johannesburg branch. His main responsibilities will be to assist, advise, consult and support Bekaert Bastion's clients on building product solutions, including concrete products using steel fibres.
Bekaert Bastion has promoted Gabrielle Brown from operations manager to group marketing and sales manager. Her main responsibilities will be overseeing the sales and marketing functions for the company not only in South Africa but in other parts of Africa too. Gabrielle has been with the company for six years.
Risk management: the new imperative
The Inter Continental Sun & Towers in Johannesburg created a new position this year to oversee effective action against 21st century criminal threats, and has appointed Phillip Hulatt as the hotel's first internal risk manager. He has wide experience in the security and military fields, as well as business management.
"I regard myself as first and foremost a hotelier, diversifying into risk management," he says. "My biggest challenge in my present job is to create a culture of risk management across the board in the hotel - cleaning, reception, room and banqueting staff, right up to senior management."
Developing Assa Abloy's business
Assa Abloy Identification Technology Group (ITG) has promoted David Sullivan to executive vice president, Assa Abloy ITG Business Development. In his new role, Sullivan will be responsible for coordinating the worldwide international sales strategy and marketing direction for Assa Abloy ITG.
