E-thele and Sentronics partner on PSIM solutions

July 2011 News & Events

E-thele SQD Networks, the product distributor of IPSecurityCenter in South and Sub-Saharan Africa, announced that Sentronics SD will be a business development partner for the product, a Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) platform, in Africa.

IPSecurityCenter by CNL Software is a software-based integration and management platform which connects and manages disparate building and security technologies such as video surveillance, access control, life critical systems, radar, analytics , BMS and HVAC, to mention a few.

IPSecurityCenter manages all of the data produced by the various security applications, and aggregates them to produce meaningful intelligence. This in turn is converted to create graphical situation management; combining relevant visual intelligence, workflow based on screen guidance and automated tasks. This is used for both event management and for day-to-day security operations. IPSecurityCenter offer dynamic guidance, which can be changes according to the perceived threat level.

With the rapid changes and security challenges that businesses are facing, the partnership between E-thele and Sentronics and its PSIM solution offering, will change the thinking behind physical security and the process management of surveillance, access control, fire, BMS and other systems.

In April 2011, Sentronics and E-thele partnered with CNL to host their first IPSecurityCenter Software workshop at the Dainfern golf club.

Through this workshop, the companies addressed several key issues that many security professionals face in various vertical markets, among these issues were:

* How should security managers and professionals assess the threats to business?

* How can they use technology to assist in identifying risks, trends and proactively improve security?

* How might the return on investment in physical security be reported to the board?

* How can security be strengthened and, at the same time, costs reduced?

* How can technology in security prove due diligence, reduce the opportunity for liability and ensure corporate governance and company policy compliance?

* How can end-users cope with any reduction in security guarding by using technology?

These workshops illustrated the key issues faced by security consultants and end-users, along with end-users breaking the dependency on vendor-specific solutions while implementing solutions that will place them in control of their business. By putting the control back in the hands of the end-users, they can define the rules around the system, rather than being dictated to by vendors as to what they can do and cannot do.
