Kentec secures new sporting venue.
The new Cardiff City stadium is a 26 828-seat sport and concert venue, and is home to the Cardiff City FC and Cardiff Blues Rugby Union teams. This ultra-modern complex boasts a members club with VIP bars, restaurant and corporate hospitality facilities.
It follows that for such a prestigious new stadium, public safety is of the highest concern; a sophisticated fire-safety system has been integrated into a public-address voice alarm (PAVA) system, providing secure, fail-safe, emergency-speech broadcast at all times.
Designers and integrators of the L5 system, Cardiff-based Tiger Fire and Security, specified four four-loop, Kentec Syncro Fire Control Panels with full optimisation of detection circuit lengths (a total of 20 km being used for both the Fire and PAVA Systems) and maximum hosting of open protocol fire detection devices.
The fire system, integrated to a 500-speaker PAVA system, protects public areas, including concourses and concessions, together with back-of-house areas such as changing rooms and offices.
The system fully complies with BS 5839, parts 1, 8 and 9, defining fire detection, fire and voice alarm systems, and with the Green Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds.
Gareth Pezzack of Tiger Fire and Security, comments on the new installation: “With Kentec’s Loop Explorer configuration software, complex cause-and-effect programming is efficiently achieved. What’s more, the open protocol structure smooths the path for future-proof system expansion, with the additional benefit of choice and flexibility when maintenance or servicing is reviewed.”
