Frank Street held an open day in October in Durban and Johannesburg. The event received a tremendous response with new technology and a new CCTV brand on show.
An item of particular interest in the IP field was the Open Platform Nuuo Software, which is compatible with more than 38 camera brands. Graham Goldridge, Africa manager for Nuuo, together with Abie Ali, director of Frank Street, teamed up for a presentation that introduced the software into the marketplace.
The illustrations showed how easy the software’s navigation and control is, via a simple graphical user interface. The presentation gave installers attending a clear understanding of the software’s capabilities.
Amongst a host of software, digital video recorders and other CCTV equipment at the event, a new brand was introduced and featured two new camera’s by JVC, one of which is the JVC Direct-Drive – 32 X zoom PTZ camera, with its JVC designed new high-speed mechanism. Better than conventional cameras, the direct-drive has an ultra-fast pan/tilt speed, it is silent, has accurate preset positioning, is light sensitive and reliable with low maintenance, says Ali.
The other JVC introduction was the megapixel network camera which is a 1/3 type progressive scan CCD with 1 250 000 effective pixels, 1,3 megapixel quad-VGA Motion JPEG and VGA MPEG-4 (15 fps each) dual stream; it has bi-directional audio communication with easy day/night function and digital PTZ function. The camera has a Web based setup and viewing tool, and has password protection with IP address filtering.
Overall the event resulted in establishing new business relations and reaffirming old ones. “We had exceptional feedback and a good turnout,” says Ali.
