GSC Systems has introduced the 718-10 Mifare reader. This Mifare card reader is user configurable to read data from a designated sector on the card using a designated key. Card readers are programmed using a configuration card, which is prepared using the 719-10 Mifare card software and programmer.
The configuration card specifies the card sector, the key, and the reader output format. The reader will work with Standard Mifare 1K, 4K and Ultralight cards. Multiple blocks can be read as long as all blocks can be accessed with the same key. The reader’s three LEDs and sounder can be operated by external control lines or they can be programmed to be operated automatically on good and bad reads.
The reader has Wiegand, Mag-stripe and RS232 outputs and supports a number of baud rates and formats. Continuous output while a card is in the field may be selected.
The reader is suited to upgrading existing installations that operate on barcode or magstripe technology. Already, South Afrifcan universities using mag stripe cards are upgrading to the new technology, by simply exchanging Mag readers with Mifare readers.
