Selma Black from the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa (CGCSA) has been appointed to the position of project manager for the Shopping Centre Security Initiative (SCSI). The SCSI was launched in 2007 and has been housed at Business Against Crime. With the outgoing project manager no longer able to run the initiative, there was a need for oversight and management of the initiative by someone with experience in security related matters.
Says Black, “I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to this valuable initiative and build on the firm foundation laid by the team. With the cooperation and participation of all the role players, I am confident that we will enhance this initiative and take it to new heights.”
The initiative focuses on harnessing the collective crime prevention and combating efforts of the sector into focused initiatives as well as establishing a close working relationship between the shopping centre fraternity and governmental law enforcement agencies, thus enabling information sharing, joint planning etc.
