Nexus Access Control Systems, sole agents for the MIWA family of Electronic Door Locks, has introduced the ALVH Smart Card Electronic Door Lock.
As the system is based on contactless technology, there is none of the usual wear and tear on either the front desk equipment or on the locks themselves; this in turn increases the durability and reliability of the complete system. When checking in guests are now given a Mifare card that only needs to be held near the lock to open the door.
Each lock stores the last 200 transactions and each card used has a unique ID so all cards can be tracked back to the date and time of use and issue. The lock runs off four standard AA Alkaline batteries, giving it approximately 18 months use. A low battery light is displayed, when staff cards are used, enabling batteries to be changed before they fail and guests are inconvenienced.
The Data Transfer Unit for the ALVH system communicates with the lock using contactless infrared technology. This enables the lock to be programmed or data retrieved from the lock in an easy and fast manner without the use of cables.
