What should have been a quick call on a client to deliver a mobile time and attendance unit with 30 minutes of training, turned into a full days’ travelling; including some bareback horse riding; for Beget Solution’s technician, Shaun Miles.
“My destination was in the vicinity of Kokstad in KZN,” he explains. “After my second phone call for clarity on directions as there was no proper address or GPS co-ordinates, I found myself on rocky dirt roads that became increasingly difficult to drive on. Eight phone calls later I still could not find the site. The car was struggling up a very steep mountain road when a rural man from a nearby village offered me a horse to complete my journey. That would be much faster than walking, I thought.
“One hour later we reached the top where the site was supposed to be. Only it was not. I was in the wrong place. More phone calls to the client and Frikkie, the horse, carried me back down the mountain to my car.”
Fifteen phone calls, 60 km and 7 hours later Shaun arrived at the correct site.
