Sandbox Holdings is set to continue on its acquisition trail, this time the company has expanded its influence in the security arena. In December 2008 Sandbox announced the acquisition of Specialised Video Solutions (SVS), a company specialising in CCTV surveillance technologies.
Sandbox is already the parent of Sitronix, a South African electronic security company focused on access control, audio visual, smoke detection, energy management and building management services. The SVS buyout adds surveillance capabilities, a critical aspect of modern security solutions to round out the Sitronix offering.
Sitronix and SVS will continue to operate under their own brands, but will cooperate when it comes to offering customers a rounded security solu-tion. Furthermore, existing customers of both companies will be able to call on the joint venture to expand and enhance their security installations.
“We are now able to offer a holistic security solution, from access control to intelligent surveillance systems from the same company,” says Tim Timmins, MD of Sitronix. “Previously we would have relied on third party contractors to fill in the gaps, which is a risky proposition when dealing with security installations.”
While the companies will operate under their own brands, SVS has moved into the Sitronix building in Randburg and will still be run by founders Michael Caffery and Anton Luksich.
