Following the runaway success of the inaugural Retail Risk conference, hosted by The Consumer Goods Council and Technews Publishing in 2008, plans for the 2009 event are proceeding apace and bode well for another ground-breaking conference.
Retail Risk is a conference aimed at assisting retail and security professionals to protect their retail business property, assets and customers. This year’s conference will look at the impact that the 2010 World Cup and the significant influx of people to SA is likely to have on the retail industry.
“The conference aims to provide delegates with real world, practical solutions that will assist them in securing their retail businesses,” says Vivienne Dorrington, CEO of Technews Publishing. “The target audience of the conference are retail, forecourt and distribution business owners and managers, retail and distribution security/risk managers and security professionals who provide services to the retail and distribution sector.”
The Consumer Goods Council and Technews Publishing both have extensive knowledge of the security risks facing the retail environment today as well as the related solutions. By jointly hosting this conference, they aim to provide delegates with real world, practical solutions to assist in securing their businesses.
Technews is the publisher of Hi-Tech Security Solutions, South Africa’s leading security publication addressing the security information needs of installers, systems integrators, consultants and specifiers who design and install security solutions; as well as end-users throughout South Africa who are responsible for protecting their company’s people, property and profits.
The Consumer Goods Council has initiated the Crime Prevention Programme (CPP), a concerted industry effort to reduce crime and losses in the wider retail industry. The CPP is instrumental in the development of best practices and setting industry standards for retail crime prevention.
Retail Risk 2009 will be held in Cape Town on 21 May, and in Johannesburg on 28 May. Presentations will be by speakers who are respected across the industry for their expertise and market knowledge.
