GE has announced the appointment of a dedicated region executive, Thamsanqa (Thami) Mbele, to further accelerate the company’s growth in southern Africa.
“Thami Mbele brings with him some two decades as an executive and manager in the engineering and manufacturing industries. He joins GE in South Africa with substantial manufacturing, utility and industrial sector experience,” said Nabil Habayeb, president and CEO, Middle East and Africa. “With ground operations throughout Africa, key offices and facilities in 13 locations and substantial public and private sector partnerships executing on infrastructure projects from environmentally responsible power generation to large-scale water desalination, manufacturing automation, security and healthcare, we are confident that Thami has the depth of experience and understanding required to be at the helm of GE in the southern African region.”
According to Habayeb, Mbele will reinforce GE’s commitment to the region and implement a ‘company-to-country’ approach, utilising the depth and breadth of the business to provide Africa with what it needs – the kind of collaboration that will usher the continent into a new era of development and growth.
