Itatec has launched its new BiWi wireless biometrics controller. The BiWi controller connects access control and clocking fingerprint readers over the cellphone (GSM) networks.
The unit incorporates its own processor that monitors communications and consolidates the data from up to four local readers. Templates are captured during enrolment on the user's PC and transmitted via an Internet connection onto the GSM network. The BiWi controller receives the templates and writes them to the chosen local readers. When people scan on the readers the process is reversed and the access transaction is reliably transferred back to the user's PC.
The program on the PC provides a range of reports and can export data to any time and attendance program.
The BiWi controller features:
* Fast transmission of fingerprint templates to remote readers.
* Fast collection of clocking transactions.
* Readers can be placed wherever there is cellphone coverage.
* Built-in power supply management.
* Remote diagnostics for reliable operation.
