Vista Quantum 8 has been recommended as an entry level DVR in the latest edition of Benchmark Magazine and offers a straightforward interface for simple installation and operation.
The Quantum 8 from Vista is an MPEG-4 recorder, but the overall image quality seems slightly more refined than most lower cost MPEG-4 machines. Images captured when at the highest setting show no real obvious signs that the image has been compressed. Edges remain smooth, colours are rich and vibrant and true to the original, and even grey scales retain a good level of definition.
The Quantum 8 has a level of simplicity that makes it a favourite with installers. This model is often cited by competitors, and that alone speaks volumes about the impact it has had in the market.
