South African developer and manufacturer Cathexis has had its equipment selected for the surveillance solution at the Albany harbour in the state of New York, USA. Cathexis already provides the technology for the Albany Police Department with a mixture of IP and analogue video technology on the same processor platform. Cameras in the Albany streets are monitored from a central control facility to which with several key personnel have remote access and for which they also utilise various alternative communication media.
The solutions for these projects demonstrate the power of a hybrid system, where an existing infrastructure with analogue cameras can be expanded by adding IP camera video servers.
Cathexis' footprint in the US is growing steadily with several strategic customers in the New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland regions. The company has also recently supplied systems into the banking environment in Louisiana and surrounding states, and shopping malls in Florida.
