Detektor CCTV Innovation Award for Agent Video Intelligence

Agent Video Intelligence, provider of pure video analytics for business intelligence and enterprise security solutions, announced recently that it has been awarded the prestigious Detektor International Award 2007 for Innovative Achievement in CCTV Products. The awards were announced in conjunction with the opening of the Sectech Exhibition & Conference for security professionals in Stockholm, Sweden.

"We are extremely grateful to receive this award from Detektor International in recognition of our technology," said Agent VI CEO, Buddy Flerl. "This distinction was underscored in the past year by the 70-plus new customers in over 25 countries from the business intelligence and security surveillance sectors, and their loyal support of Agent VI as a trusted provider of enterprise analytics software. I would also like to extend our congratulations to the other winners in this category: Axis Communication, Checkpoint Systems/Milestone Systems and Sony. They are all worthy colleagues and good partners as well."

BSIA welcomes National CCTV Strategy

The British Security Industry Association has welcomed the Home Office's new CCTV Strategy as a significant step forward in an holistic approach to the specification, deployment and governance of CCTV technology in the UK.

Pauline Norstrom, BSIA CCTV Section chairman, comments, "The plans laid down by the strategy will bring major benefits to public safety and lead to the effective reduction of crime. CCTV technology is now very much part of our everyday lives and it is essential that its potential is maximised for the benefit of all.

"The BSIA has long believed that all the key stakeholders have a part to play in the effective deployment of CCTV across both the public and private sectors. The CCTV industry is playing a vital role through BSIA's involvement in the National Strategy Programme Board. We have also been working closely for some time with the Home Office Scientific Development Branch on a number of common issues.

"The implementation of high standards is imperative to ensuring the effective use of CCTV. Consequently, the Association has been heavily involved for some years in developing standards and codes of practice on digital video evidence; remotely-monitored, detector-activated CCTV; privacy masking; the use of CCTV with chip and PIN; and data protection, amongst other issues. These documents form the cornerstone of all proposed standards and guidelines in the UK.

"The BSIA will continue to work proactively as part of the National Strategy Programme Board to ensure the continued successful contribution of CCTV to public safety and crime prevention and detection in this country."
