Security remains an integral aspect of South African industry, with South Africa's private security sector ranked as the second biggest employer in the country, only outdone by the mining industry. The 2008 Eastern Cape Industrial Technology Exhibition looks to recognise the importance of security technology, with a number of security companies exhibiting at the event.
