Five major lock manufacturers introduce new eProx products in partnership with HID

September 99 Access Control & Identity Management

HID Corporation has partnered with five leading lock manufacturers to incorporate HID's embedded proximity (eProx) technology into a wide range of door lock systems. The new eProx products will offer the enhanced security and convenience of proximity access in standard electronic locks.

Jim Scott, President of Locknetics, said, "With these new eProx locks, our customers can now offer their clients the latest in card access technology in a convenient stand-alone package."

"Proximity technology is booming," according to Anick Toledano, Product Manager for Ilco Unican. "HID is becoming the leader in proximity and we wanted the best."

"Our customers have been requesting this technology for some time," said Tony Diodato, President of Cypress Computer Systems. "HID was the first to make it available. Cypress has enjoyed a long, profitable relationship with HID so it was a natural fit."

"With the eProx products, dealers and locksmiths can sell into the huge HID installed user base," said John Menzel, Technology Integration Sales Manager for HID. "In the past, locksmiths were excluded from the growing proximity market. The eProx line opens up a vast new market and gives them the ability to offer a single card solution with all of the benefits and features of proximity access."

Other eProx partners include Alarm Lock and the French manufacturer, Unitechniques SA. The eProx Lock products are the first battery-powered proximity readers available. The components were engineered to maximise battery life. Under normal use, eProx readers can operate up to two years without replacing batteries.
