One of the focus areas of golf estates is to provide a secure environment for its residents. This not only includes access to the estate itself, but secure access within the homes themselves.
As estates become more upmarket and utilise more cutting edge technology, ranging from Internet access to video surveillance, the use of keys to access properties or area within the home is becoming outdated.
"Golf estates are looking more to technology to provide secure access. But until recently products such as biometric fingerprint door access were not completely secure. But with advances in technology, fingerprint door access is becoming a preferred method of access in upmarket complexes such as golf estates," says RCG Systems SA operations manager Mike Cox.
This form of access is proving a high security solution in the Japanese and European markets, and locally contractors are beginning to see the benefits.
This form of access is ideal for securing the front door of a home as well as certain areas within the home itself. It is tamper-proof and can be set to send an SMS alarm if someone tries to gain access illegally to a home or area within the home.
