When a general purpose mechanical security system is installed, detectors are usually located inside a building. In order to increase the effectiveness of such a security system, Optex recommends not only securing the inside of the building but also adding protection to the outside areas. "By adding the BX-80N, it detects intruders before entry. This invisible barrier offers the first line of defence to a property's boundary," says Rudi Kuhn, Optex product manager at Elvey Security Technologies.
With long, narrow detection areas that extend from both sides the BX-80N is specifically designed to be wall-mounted centrally on a building, covering the building perimeter with a multilayered, horizontal barrier.
Optex has recently launched a newly developed wireless BX-80NR, Optex claims to give additional convenience and ease of installation. The BX-80NR is a battery-operated model and therefore requires no complicated wiring. Because the unit can be configured for either open or close contacts it can be easily incorporated to any existing or new wireless installation. This configuration also makes it compatible with all makes of remote transmitters.
