It has been common knowledge in the security industry for some time that Teltron has been looking to extract itself from the security industry as part of its refocused business strategy.
According to Sanyo Managing Director, T. Todo, Teltron and Sanyo have now finalised arrangements for the return of Sanyo CCTV to its rightful place, with Sanyo SA. Says Todo, "We are happy to announce that we are taking over the majority of Teltron staff who will be joining Sanyo SA from 1 August 1999. In addition we have also concluded a contract with other suppliers whose range Teltron carried, including Kalatel, and Vision Systems."
Articulating Sanyo's view of its role in the security context, Todo reminded Hi-Tech Security Systems that in October 1997, when Sanyo Japan decided to invest in South Africa by opening a company in Johannesburg, it had a broad vision of where it wanted to go. This initially consisted of providing a home to Sanyo's own audio video products, as well as its Office Automation range.
Says Todo, "The long-term plan and vision was to bring in-house all Sanyo products being marketed and sold by other companies. And we're happy to now have our CCTV products in-house.
"As Managing Director of Sanyo SA, I assure all of our customers that we intend to have as little disruption as possible during this transitional period and we look forward to your continued support and assure you of our best possible service in the future."
