Sensormatic has been awarded a high value contract to provide integrated access control and security management equipment for the first phase for the Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The initial construction, including runways and a main passenger terminal, is due for completion in October 1999. When completed, this project will replace the existing airport in China's most populous city.
The integrated access control and security management equipment will include a Software House C˙Cure 800 integrated security management system. The first phase of the installation will include 526 card readers, 11 workstations and 5000 alarm points. The access control system will be integrated with fire and life safety, closed-circuit television (CCTV) and internal information technology systems.
Three other terminals and some administration buildings - part of a second construction phase - will each have their own dedicated C˙Cure 800 server. The servers will be networked to provide central cardholder administration, reporting, and alarm monitoring.
Says a Sensormatic spokesman, "China is one of the fastest growing commercial/industrial markets for Sensormatic's Access Control Division, and major installations such as Pudong International Airport certainly help to increase awareness of the products and services Sensormatic provides to emerging markets."
