BitDefender Internet Security, the personal security software suite, has been awarded the Checkmark PC Firewall certification by independent UK certification outfit West Coast Labs.
The certification ensures that BitDefender achieves an effective level of protection against hostile attacks from outside, prevents unauthorised local applications from accessing the network, and offers sufficient documentation and administrative tools to the user.
Richard Thomas, West Coast Labs test engineer says BitDefender passed the test with flying colours, even when used with its default settings. "BitDefender should be commended for the level of security provided by its recommended home user setting; throughout testing this was enough to block all access attempts and keep the client user safe without any need to adjust settings."
"BitDefender 9 Internet Security now holds all the desktop Certifications from Checkmark: AV level 1 and 2, Trojan, AntiSpyware Desktop and PC Firewall. We are one of only two companies in the world to offer this level of certified protection," says local BitDefender distributor Grayford Holton. "This certification proves that the effort spent developing a solid firewall to match our highly-praised antivirus engines has not been wasted."
