The Access Control Expo 2005

February 2006 News & Events

Held at the Kyalami Castle in Johannesburg on 22 November, South Africa's first Access Control Expo was ranked as an outstanding success by visitors and exhibitors alike.

The key to the Expo's success lies in the fact that it showcased complete access and T&A solutions - with physical access control; intrusion and fire detection; CCTV; and biometric identification all being demonstrated as an integrated system. As Mike Lotter of Blick emphasises: "The Expo is all about presenting integrated solutions for controlling access and managing T&A. Up until ACE, there has not been a specialist event where users and specifiers can experience working solutions."

The invitation-only Expo featured products and services from ADI, Blick, Bosch, Ideco, Impro, Sagem and Turnstar. For Gary Jones of Ideco, ACE provided an ideal opportunity to demonstrate complex products and systems. As he points out: "We understand that customers are often faced with the difficulty of choosing between systems that are very often presented to the market as all being equal. It is therefore valuable for us to be able to meet key users and specifiers and demonstrate to them at first hand the operational reasons why Sagem is the global market leader and absolutely the only choice for them."

As well as major end users such as Anglo American and SAB, the invited visitors included key specifiers from consulting engineers, quantity surveyors, security consultants and commercial architects. A feature of the Expo was the excellent lunch that added to the relaxed and informal atmosphere and allowed visitors the opportunity to compare notes with their peers from other types of businesses and professional disciplines.

With a number of future marketing activities already planned under the ACE banner, Mark Eardley of Turnstar explains that: "The Expo marked the launch of an alliance between the major players in the access control industry to provide solutions that represent outstanding financial value because they deliver the results that customers need."

In fact, the ACE Partners are so pleased with the Expo's success that ACE 2006 will be held at the same venue on 24 November this year.
