CCTV manufacturer Baxall and its African distributor Reditron are hoping to launch several new products and extend Baxall's share of the South African market.
The first major development since Reditron MD, John Loftus, returned from the UK a few weeks ago, is the launch of the ICE camera range.
"The ICE camera range features a new, modern eye-catching design, smaller size and superior picture quality which comes as a result of improved software technology," says Loftus.
"It is the result of several years R&D into rationalising Baxall's extensive camera range and incorporating the range's best features into an updated and enhanced - but simplified - range. Although the ICE range effectively replaces the existing portfolio, the same highly competitive pricing structure remains."
Also new from Baxall is the redesign of Baxall's Vivid digital video recorders (DVRs) to take full advantage of the new JPEG2000 compression technology. This technology provides better picture quality at lower storage rates.
"There is also good news for installers - the new range is extremely easy to install because it comes with a 31-day automatic recording set-up feature. This means installers can quite literally plug it in and leave it to operate. If more specific configuration is required, then a standard PC keyboard can be used to program things such as camera titles. A USB memory stick can also be plugged into a Baxall Vivid unit to quickly download settings from one unit to another to save time and reduce the possibility of configuration error. Alternatively, set-up and configuration can be done remotely, as all units feature Ethernet connectivity; this feature also enables remote users to view live and playback images without affecting local recording," Loftus concludes.
