South African company Dex Security Solutions, which forms part of the international Dex Group of companies, is receiving enquiries from international soccer stadium managers in connection with access control and security systems.
Dex has responded to enquiries from the USA, the UK, Turkey, Sudan, Ghana, Botswana and Brazil about an infallible stadium control system.
The interest follows in the wake of the success achieved by Dex during the Cricket World Cup Tournament in South Africa. Not a single successful case of fraud or duplicated ticket use was reported during that tournament.
The company recently installed two turnstiles at the Volta Redonda stadium in Rio de Janeiro as part of a successful pilot project. Dex technology also enabled the stadium to produce its own tickets.
Marcello Monaco, CEO of Dex Brazil, says Dex is in a very advanced stage of negotiations with a number of soccer stadia and gymnasiums in Brazil.
These Brazilian gyms are major complexes where indoor sports such as volleyball, handball and soccer are played. The number of people moving in and out of these gyms vary between 2000 and 10 000 per day. The capacity of the South American soccer stadia, with whom Dex is negotiating, varies between 70 000 and 100 000 spectators.
Meanwhile, the South African Cricket Board has concluded a three-year licence agreement with Dex Security Solutions. In terms of the agreement, the Dex stadium management systems will be used for the next three years at cricket stadia in the country for access control and security.
A two-dimensional barcode is utilised on the admission ticket. The combined intelligence on the ticket and the management system determines the security and makes counterfeiting and double usage impossible.
The new agreement applies to the seven largest stadia in the country: Wanderers, Centurion, Newlands, Kingsmead, St George's Park, Buffalo Park and Goodyear Park.
Dex has also been contracted to upgrade the turnstiles to accommodate the tickets of multiple issuers.
