United Technologies Corporation (UTC), the holding company for Chubb Security South Africa, recently acquired fire safety company, Kidde. Kidde will become part of the newly renamed UTC Fire & Security segment.
"The acquisition of Kidde has significantly changed our size and profile," said UTC Fire & Security president, Olivier Robert.

Both Kidde and Chubb are strong brands with loyal customers and by maintaining both brands under an entity with a descriptor such as UTC Fire & Security we can better serve a broader market and add other global brands while leveraging the value of the UTC name," says Robert.
Kidde's Industrial Fire Protection and Residential & Commercial fire safety segments join Chubb to create a business with 52 000 employees in approximately 30 countries.
"Over the last century, Chubb Fire has developed a brand name, which is well recognised and trusted worldwide," says Steve Mundy, group managing director for Chubb Security South Africa.
"Our emphasis is on quality control and state of the art technology, affording our customers the unprecedented assurance of a five year guarantee on all Chubb Fire manufactured equipment," continued Mundy.
In addition, Chubb Fire is the only truly national fire service provider in South Africa providing its services through a network of 14 branches and service centres nationally.
