Xantium Technology Holdings and Digital Card Systems have formed a joint venture to create Xantium DCS. This agreement will ensure the design, implementation and production of card-based solutions, including biometrics and other verification systems to corporate and government sectors in Africa.
"Xantium DCS was created to ensure the African marketplace has access to a company that is not only black-owned, but focuses on service delivery, implementation of proven technologies and market expertise to develop card-based solutions that address business and social needs," says Richard Blewitt, managing director of Xantium DCS. "Our differentiator is based on that fact that we not only have access to the resources of one of the largest global card applications and identification companies through DCS, but our ability to deliver cost-effective services to both the public and private sector from hospitality, schools, financial services, law enforcement, education and government, make us the leading application vendor locally."
"DCS chose to partner with Xantium based on the quality and experience of the company," says Chuck Weiglin, vice president of DCS Global. "Having proven our expertise globally, we wanted to work with a company that could support our growth in Africa as well as give us access to immediate delivery capabilities, market specific expertise and alignment with our business philosophy - which Xantium certainly does."
Xantium DCS will have the ability to develop and implement solutions for all card-based applications, including driver's licences, national ID/voter registration, passport travel documents, company access cards and smartcards. The technology is based on open standards using Microsoft's .Net as well as a standard Windows platform.
