Video processing, data communications and digital CCTV surveillance systems specialist Thales Advanced Engineering, will use its Securex 2004 stand to focus attention on the quality and depth of local technology, products and systems expertise.
Thales provides total solutions in the form of products and systems engineering for the defence, commercial security and specialised imaging markets. According to managing director Bennie Coetzer, the company will display a number of its defence products to demonstrate the local technology that is now increasingly being adopted in commercial applications.
The three major commercial products on display will be the Argus video management system, the Aegis parking security system and the DPAS active panic alarm system. The Argus system is a high quality system designed for CCTV surveillance security applications in large financial institutions, shopping centres, casinos and other high traffic facilities.
Defence products at the stand include the MPEG2 digital video link with anti-jam and low probability of intercept capability and a portable tactical video system. Poster displays include the Thales ship-borne video system, a visual weapons analysis system, a tactical data communications system and a telemedicine video system for remote ailment/injury diagnosis and treatment guidance.
"All of these products have been developed using home-grown technology," says Dr Coetzer. "Securex will show that South African companies can compete effectively with the best the world has to offer."
