A compact, modular CCTV electronic surveillance system, ideal for a wide range of security applications requiring between 16 and 48 cameras, has been introduced to the South African market by Thales Advanced Engineering. The new system provides high-level picture quality and system reliability and will be most competitive in the entry level systems market, according to Dr Bennie Coetzer, joint managing director of Thales, a Johannesburg-based electronic surveillance systems designer and manufacturer.
"Until now we have largely concentrated on large systems for the top end of the market. However, the inherent modularity of our design has allowed us to develop an entry-level system that will be very price competitive without in any way sacrificing quality and reliability. It also means that we now offer solutions ranging from 16 cameras to highly complex systems involving in excess of 1000 cameras."
Dr Coetzer adds that the system gives users many options from basic, standard solutions to tailor-made need-specific solutions, all of them user-friendly and proactive with the ability to record pictures of high quality at a realtime recording rate of up to 25 pictures per second on each camera or as dictated by the specific application requirement.
In the entry level market the Thales system can be expanded to cater for application growth and where some users may require more sophisticated features such as integrated video motion detection (VMD) technology and integration to external alarm and access detection systems, these features can be quickly and simply built into the standard system.
