Dedication contributes to GeoVision success

September 2003 News & Events

GeoVision SA was recently informed by its parent company in Taiwan that, based on the first six months of 2003 sales, GeoVision SA is now the eighth largest distributor of GeoVision products in the world. This is as the result of dedication to technical pre- and post-sales backup to its distributor base and end-users in the market.

GeoVision SA now has more than 3000 units installed and working in the Southern African market and the installed base is growing by around 125 units per month. "We believe our success is directly linked to expert knowledge of our products, linked to a superb product range and technical back-up and commitment from GeoVision in Taiwan," says Jan Botha, CEO of the local operation.

During the past three years GeoVision SA has assisted the Research & Development division of GeoVision to develop a number of enhancements to the control software. Recent additions to these include:

* POS display overlays - the amount that appears on a point-of-sale terminal or weighing station will be overlaid on the stored image along with the normal time and date-based watermark.

* Number plate recognition - GeoVision SA is currently testing the latest version after changes were made to accommodate the unique backgrounds to South African number plates.

* A new Masked Quick Search engine that only searches a specified area on an individual camera view for motion, allowing the pre- and post recording frames to be set by the user, drastically cutting down on search time to locate specific incidents.

New announcements

Version 5.31 of the GeoVision control software has arrived from Taiwan. This boasts a number of additions and enhancements, including:

* Selectable post- and pre-recording (number of frames set by the user).

* Selectable panel resolution.

* Video alerts on technology failure.

* Full screen display mode.

* Enhanced password controls.

* More PTZ protocols.

* Pocket PC and cellular phone remote view.

* Enhanced two way audio via remote view.

* GV900 - 240 fps viewing and recording.

* GV1000 - 480 fps viewing and recording (live view and recording on all 16 cameras).
