CELL2GATE is comprised of a small box (containing a microprocessor and a GSM module) which is installed next to a motorised gate, boom or anything that needs switching on. Only four wires need connecting, namely two DC and two trigger wires.
The gate/device essentially gets a cell number which is dialled by the person wanting access. The microprocessor contains a database of up 1000 numbers. The GSM module gets the users clip (ie: their number) from the connection and immediately drops it, resulting in a zero cost call. The clip is then verified against the database and an open trigger signal is generated only if the clip resides in the database.
As a result, users now have access to premises by simply using their cellphone. They effectively authenticate themselves against the CELL2GATE system database. Designed for wireless managed access control, CELL2GATE also keeps audit logs of accesses and events, which can be downloaded and viewed using a PC admin program. The product is supplied with an administration program, which runs on Win98 or better. This program enables the admin user, via a normal modem, to wirelessly connect to the CELL2GATE unit and upload new numbers or download audit logs.
A further convenience built in, is the ability for permanent users to SMS in a visitor number to their CELL2GATE unit using a very simple SMS command. Visitors then have limited time access using their own cellphones. The visitor numbers are automatically deleted on expiry.
