ASSA ABLOY grows into Africa

July 2003 News & Events

Building on local success and utilising South Africa as the blueprint, ASSA ABLOY SA is making definite inroads into the rest of Africa.

Already present in Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Mauritius, ASSA ABLOY SA recently began to focus on growth in the East African countries of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, with the hopes that 2003 will bring the new markets of Nigeria and Angola.

ASSA ABLOY SA believes that Africa holds the greatest market growth potential - as the continent is rebuilt, so the need for quality products becomes even greater and the presence of a responsible company dedicated to providing these quality products becomes more vital.

All products sold into Africa by ASSA ABLOY SA are manufactured in South Africa and exported to the various destinations. While the products sold are imported from South Africa, all packaging is manufactured locally and all management teams and employees of the various African ASSA ABLOY offices are local inhabitants. Having local management teams not only assists ASSA ABLOY SA in its negotiations and understanding of the individual, often very complex markets, but also develops the local people and massages the local economy. In South Africa alone, ASSA ABLOY SA has secured the jobs of over 800 people and created over 100 jobs, while in the balance of Africa there are over 200 people employed by ASSA ABLOY SA.
