Dealer launch cements success of rental scheme

July 2003 News & Events

More than 50 of Gauteng and Mpumulanga's top dealers in security and access control systems recently gathered at Idle Winds, north of Johannesburg, to learn more about Honeywell's new security rental scheme.

Based on the initial success of and interest in the First Alert programme, this rental option allows the customer to rent the most appropriate security system for their home or business.

Speakers at the launch included Honeywell's country manager and director of the Safety, Fire & Security (SF&S) Division that is responsible for First Alert, Steve Shannon; Frank Fowles, the First Alert architect and a manager of Advanced Solutions for Honeywell; as well as a well known motivational speaker, Etienne Hartslief, who rounded off the day on a particularly high note.

First Alert has been designed to address the need for a more balanced security offering with a focus on professional service and the provision of an adequate hardware system that provides optimal coverage in terms of the customer's needs. "The traditional one-size-fits-all approach is just no longer feasible," says Frank Fowles. "First Alert professional dealers will provide reliable and comprehensive security systems tailored to the specific needs of each customer."

The one day seminar provided dealers with a full briefing on the concept of the rental scheme, gave them a product overview and reaffirmed Honeywell's commitment to provide free sales and technical training as part of the programme. Fowles added that Honeywell believes that this innovative offering will see the growth of small to medium and emerging vendors that can provide top quality products, backed by professional service and advice. Various system configurations are available to suit specific needs and include the First Alert Platinum package which caters for eight security zones, expandable to 48. This is generally sufficient for even the largest and most complex security challenge. This top of the range system is fully compatible with a wide selection of wireless devices and is suitable for both larger domestic applications and commercial applications.
